Tell Us About Your Dogs: 12 hours, 28 minutes ago · View
I have two dogs. Benson is a 5 yr old chocolate lab. We have had him since he was 9mths old He loves everyone and everything- a very high energy dog but so loveable. Also have Phoebe who is a 3 yr old springer. Had her from a puppy. She is very happy as long as she has a tennis ball although prefers to chase them rather than collect from flyball box. Both dogs are members of delta flyball team and are looking forward to lots more rosettes this year.

@lacey watched all the labs working in the snow in Yorkshire yesterday. They seem to love it.

Almost died in Yorkshire yesterday having to run in the snow up the side of a very steep and wet hill to save a dog hanging upside down having got his leg caught in a fence whilst jumping it on a retrieve. Looks like just a few pulled ligaments for him but I think I need to return to the gym.

WARNING: there is a spate of animals being bought for dog baiting in the Sidcup/Kent areas. Potential owners are snapping up pets needing homes for free/cheap, all their phones and homes are bogus.
Sadly a lady was rung by the council yesterday to say that her micro chipped cat she homed without doing a home check had been found in bins ripped to pieces.
RIP little cat what a tragic end.Crossposted from my friend’s dog rescue on Facebook, many people have commented on this thread on their cats coming back with shaved/chunks of fur missing and cuts.

People have got to wise up to the fact that there are some seriously foul people out there. Please keep your cats in at night. Traps are more likely to be put out at night, and DO NOT leave your dogs outside shops or in your cars, it does’nt matter if your dog is big, small, pedigree, young or old.. it doesn’t matter if it’s to be ripped to pieces. These people will take ANY animal they can get hold of for nothing!!
And it isn’t only happening in the Sidcup/Kent area:-( Dog fighting pits can be found all over the country.

Warning to all dog owners in Sussex: There are 2 men driving round Sidley (Bexhill, East Sussex) area in a white van with a roofrack, following people and trying to steal small dogs. The men are believed to be in their late 30s and both white. The driver was seen wearing a black woollen hat and a black or dark blue coat. The van is a standard white van with a black roof rack that doesn’t seem to fit properly, with no writing or markings on it. Police are aware. PLEASE SHARE!!!

PLEASE, PLEASE DON’T ALLOW YOUR DOGS TO RUN ONTO ICY PONDS, LAKES, RIVERS AND CANALS.
Every year many dogs die by falling through ice and drowning, some of the owners die as well trying to rescue them.
Last winter, a dear friend had to watch her Border Collie die under the ice on a canal, scratching desperately under the ice trying to get out. Not a pretty sight believe me.
Keep your dogs on a lead while passing iced over waterways.
It doesn ’t only happen to other people’s dogs!!! -

If you’re part of the dog community , then you are in agreement that dogs are by far better than cats in very way. Some may disagree but, I personally think dogs outrank cats any day of the week and here are some reasons why… Dogs are always happy to see us. - Even when you’ve [...]

BonesyDog wrote a new blog post: Flyball Training Goals 1 week, 1 day ago · View
The training goal of all trainers for flyball competition is to train your dog to his fullest potential. Training to your dog’s fullest potential does not mean speed, rather speed is the product of good training. Training takes time and patience. Know when to push your dog, and when to back off a little, it will [...]

One of the most amazing dog stories that I’ve ever come across deals with dogs and cancer. New studies have shown that dogs can smell cancer in humans. A study published in the European Respiratory Journal has found that two German shepherds, an Australian Shepherd and a Labrador Retriever could recognize cancer. The dogs were given samples from [...]

BonesyDog wrote a new blog post: Dog Social Network – Connect With Others 1 week, 1 day ago · View
Is a dog social network actually effective in helping people learn new training techniques, in learning about their dog’s health or in helping other dog lovers connect with each other? The answer is yes to all three… All dogs are different, so all dogs require different kinds of training. If your training technique is not working [...]

It’s great to have Paddy back home after his 3rd operation on his leg. Hopefully that will be the last one and we can get back to normal. He’s now got 4 weeks off from training, he can go on the treadmill though for some gentle walking and he should be fit for the start of the season.

It’s been mentioned on here that we shouldn’t feed cat food to dogs (it’s too high in fat, etc) – well I wouldn’t anyway, it would be far too expensive!! I know this is a site for DOG people, but did you know that it’s far more harmful to feed dog food to cats? I can’t remember the details but if done regularly it can make them desperately ill.

Good to know ”There should be enough room for you to slip two fingers between the dog and the dog collar to assure that the collar is not too tight.”
