Yorkshire Terrier

Number of views (129)

The Yorkshire Terrier is a small and dainty looking animal with a beautiful, long silky coat and is often referred to as a Yorkie.  It is an eager, energetic, intelligent, very enthusiastic animal who is adventurous and loves a little excitement.  While affectionate and loyal the Yorkshire Terrier can be quite demanding. Irritable and snappy when nervous or provoked it can be aggressive around other pets and strangers.  It is also not well suited to young children who are boisterous and pester the dog. The Yorkshire Terrier is a dog that is usually relatively easy to train.  It is well suited living in an apartment or a house.  Health concerns include spinal, digestive and oral problems in addition to bronchitis.  To keep its coat in good condition it should be brushed daily and regular brushing and cleaning of the mouth is essential for good health.

The Yorkshire Terrier is a very small toy dog, growing to about six or seven inches in height and weighing about seven pounds.  Due to their size and fragility there is a heightened risk of damage to the bones through accident and injury.  A healthy and fit Yorkshire Terrier can live between 12-15 years.
