The Boxer is very high spirited, playful, curious, athletic, good natured and affectionate dog that bonds very close with family. With a square built and strong, athletic limbs the Boxer carries itself with grace and dignity although they are very clownish and will get into just about anything. Their protective nature and love of family makes them effective watchdogs. They do get along well with children however keep in mind their size before introducing a Boxer into a household with small children.Weighing between 50-85 pounds and reaching a height of around 21-26 inches the Boxer has a life expectancy of 8-12 years. Health issues associated with this breed include bloat, colitis, cancer, respiratory problems, thyroid problems, and heart problems. As a short haired dog they need shade and to be kept out of extreme temperatures.
