My dog has developed a limp after a walk today? It would not be hips that soon would it or would it take time to show if there was a hip problem? I have checked the paw but the soreness seems to be around the joint.

There are any number of things that can cause a dog to limp, not just hip issues. Like us, he could have stepped in hole and stretched or twisted something. He could have some irritant in the foot. Give him a day or two of being quiet and then think about having him seen by someone.
