What kinds of foods are really good to feed a dog so they live a long life?

What we know is that foods, whether for dogs or humans, must have a balanced diet to supply energy and have a satisfactory mixture of the major nutrients – carbohydrates, fats and proteins, and have a sufficient intake of minor nutrients – vitamins and minerals in proper proportions.

The Whole Dog's Journal criteria and recommended food list takes all the guessing out of it...they did the homework for us. This list can help provide the right food for your dog based on age, energy levels, fat content, etc. More importantly, it paves the way to stay clear of by-products which most commercial foods contain. It is always a great idea to stay away from grocery stocked dog food.

Treats are big in our house! Because they are "over-treated", I opt for baby carrots and apple slices to keep their weight in check. Nothing feels better to us humans than to give out healthy treats to our fur family members.
