New Years Update from Lola and Tootsie Roll

Well, I'm sure everyone can guess what my resolution this year will be. It has to do with losing a certain number of pounds.

I actually took some time on New Years (off from work, yeah!) to read some articles about losing weight and making changes that count.

There are a lot of scary statistics regarding how often people fail at their New Years goals. I found out that some of the most common causes of failure are having goals that too general or too difficult and trying to the same thing every time.

This year, I'm going to set up a lot of smaller weight loss goals and tie them to dates. So many pounds by next month, etc...This way I can build toward my ultimate goal gradually, and the smaller goals seem more doable.

As for Tootsie Roll, she still has some weight to take off. She has a vet check up next month, so I'll see how she is doing. I think she's lost a little bit of weight, but not as much as she needs to to be healthy.

Hi everyone,

Haven't updated the group in a while. Tootsie Roll, my dog, lost a little bit of weight according to the vet, but it wasn't that much. I think I'm just going to stick with what I'm doing - two walks a day, cutting back on treats and no table scraps.

The no table scraps is the hardest. Tootsie whines, and whines and whines. I haven't given her anything in a month, and she still begs non stop when I'm eating dinner. Will she ever get over this?

I hope so. I'm also making her watch "Biggest Loser" with me. She hardly cares, but at least it inspires me!

New goal is to stop letting Tootsie Roll eat any human food. I tend to give her scraps of dinner, but now she has become an expert whiner. All those little bits of meat add up. It will be a test of will power not to give in to those sad puppy eyes, but it's for her own good.
