Cows with calves on them are going to fight the dogs and if the calves are very young they will be even more protective.

Working Cow Dogs: 5 months, 1 week agoAwesome. Thanks for uploading this pic. We have so many unwanted border collies here in Idaho – about 1/3rd of the shelters are filled with them. But they are such amazing animals when their abilities are utilized as part of a working farm.

- The dog needs to be able to work on his own without a lot of commands. They have to want to work (you’ll know the difference). A dog that wants to work would rather be with the cows than sitting next to you or on the back of the truck

I actually took this picture and those are two of our dogs…We don’t have any purebred border collies anymore, but we have mixes with border collie in them and they’re amazing. Border Collies are very intelligent dogs and if there minds aren’t work daily, they pick up a lot of bad habits, that’s why they don’t make very good city dogs.
